Where in the World are the Mackeys?

Hello everyone! Hope the new year has been a good one so far. So most of you have probably been wondering where we have been, or more like asking why hasn't there been any new photos on our blog. Well the reason why there hasn't been any new posts is because our camera or computer has been acting up and we haven't been able to upload any pics. I've been wanting for weeks now to post pictures of our family trip to Waxahachie, Texas during the Christmas holidays, our trip to the Dallas Zoo and new pics of Katarina, but to no avail, haven't been able to. Sorry. But once I can get the photos on our computer, I promise to have new pics. In the mean time, you can read about what we've been up to lately, hope I don't bore you to death :-)

In the month of December, since the last time I wrote, Jonathan, Katarina and I flew over to Waxahachie, Texas, a city just outside of Dallas. Jamie, Scott and their family had recently moved there and were gracious to have all of the Mackey clan over for the Christmas holidays. Can you believe that there were 19 of us all in one house! It was a sight to see. It was a lot of fun to see everyone, especially nice for Katarina to finally meet her Aunts, Uncles and cousins (all 9 of them I might add).

While on vacation, Jonathan and I were able to catch up on a lot of sleep. It was especially nice for Jonathan as he had been busy with both work and CASB and unfortunately still is. Because we napped so much, Katarina has finally gotten into somewhat of a napping routine.

Fun was had by all of the Mackey clan until the dreaded GI bug came along and attacked about three quarters of our family. Katarina, thank goodness, did not get the bug until we got back home on the 27th. It was like starting all over again with a newborn and poopy diapers! But needless to say, it was a fun trip and we hope to see all of them again real soon.

Moving on :-) When we returned from our trip, after all the poopy diapers, life turned back to normal. We've settled into our new home more and more. For those of you who don't know, I have decided to go back to school. I have started taking the Critical Care Course at BCIT so that I can move onto CCU or the Cardiac Care Unit. These past few weeks have been filled with reading and looking at course work. It took sometime for me to decide, but finally decided it was time to move on. It's sad for me, and I don't want to be leaving the wonderful ward I work on, but I know that I still have good friends there that I will always keep in touch with. I'm looking forward to learning new things and meeting new people along the way.

As for Jonathan, many of you know that he's busy with work at Ernst & Young and working on CASB (schooling to help him get his Chartered Accountant designation). He's working very hard and has an exam this upcoming weekend so we both hope and pray that he kicks butt so he can drink it up after the exam! ha ha ha. But unfortately work isn't done for him, tax season is upon him and he'll be really busy. Something I'm sure he's looking forward to! If you pay him, he may actually give you some tax advice, just kidding, he doesn't even help me with our taxes when I do them, and I'm the nurse! Kidding again, well kind of :-)

Last but not least, Katarina is growing like a weed, she's a whopping 24 lbs and getting quite long. She continues to wear 18 to 24 month clothing! Some of you laugh, but it's her size and she's just thriving :-) She loves to roll around and is starting to get the hang of being on her tummy more and more to explore. She explores and tugs at things so much, that she decided that she wanted to take a closer look at our external hard drive. Bad idea on her part, especially since it fell on top of her button nose, only to leave a cut on the side of her nose. It's a good thing that she's a baby, and that Jonathan has been persistent with the application of aloe vera and Polysporin, that she's healing just fine. We don't think she'll scar.

Anywho, that's where the Mackeys are in life at the moment. It seems I always blog in spurts, and because of this, it's hard for some of you to see when I have new postings. So, for this new year, I will try hard to post at least once a week, but I can't promise anything, now that I'm a full time mommy and student :-)
